PERSI IOANNIDOU
Spatial Designer
Cities I live in or I travel to are my main field of investigation. Again and again I get lured by oddities that compose the city's darker side. Discoveries made take the form of imagery, writings or remain registered as inner sensations.
The document traces the path between the exploration of public urban space and the scenographic investigation performed inside the closed, dark room. It keeps track of the thinking and making processes followed while traveling between those two destinations, and takes the reader on a journey through the city's negative space : not only the other side, but also instances that, like the film negatives, are developed into other spatial formations.
Urbis Obscura / The City as Negative Space is the document that accompagnied my graduation work for HKU Master Scenography.
